I started the Freedom Twenty-Five blog just over one year ago.

At the time, my health was declining, my job was sucking the life out of me, I was unhappy and self-destructive in my relationships with women, and I was wasting a large and growing fraction of my life on garbage TV and video games. Most importantly, I felt completely and utterly directionless in my life. I was adrift.

My problem was that I had spent the first twenty-five years of my life chasing after goals that other people had chosen for me: The right degrees, a stable career, popularity and social acceptance. I had never really asked myself what I wanted to do with my life.

The result was that I sank into a low-level depression. I realized that I was just going through the motions of living my life.

I didn’t know how to address the root of the problem – my inability to find meaning, substance and purpose in a world that had depressingly little of it – but I decided that there had to be a better way to spend my time while I figured it out.

Rather than stew in navel-gazing self-pity, I chose to dedicate the past year to becoming the best version of myself that I possibly could.

I learned everything I could about health and nutrition; money and personal finance; women and relationships; focus and productivity; and whatever else I found that I suspected would help me lead a better, happier, more effective life.

I told myself: Forget about meaning. Go back to basics. Get insanely good at life. Free yourself from having to spend time worrying about health, money, women and pop culture. Make some room in your life for a higher calling, and let it find you.

And that’s what I did.

But this book is more than just an inspirational story. Freedom Twenty-Five: A 21st Century Man’s Guide To Life will give you the tools to start living more effectively. The hardest part about living better isn’t necessarily finding the motivation – it’s cutting through the reams of bullshit self-improvement advice that passes for conventional wisdom today.

The sad truth is that almost all of the standard, mainstream knowledge that you’ve been raised to believe on the subjects covered in this book – health, money, women, and focus – is complete bullshit. This book is about unconventional strategies  for conscious living, many of which will be the complete opposite of what you’ve been taught. Without these unconventional ideas, life can be quite hard. With them, it will be far easier than you may have thought:

– Being healthy and fit is easy. Look around the world and you will actually see very few fat people. Human obesity is a rare condition, outside of late-20th century America. If you integrate a few simple habits into your life, and adopt a deliciously unconventional diet, you can look and feel better than the vast majority of your peers.

– Financial security is easy to secure. (For now at least.) If you can resist the trappings of the modern consumerist culture, hack your personal finances, and start looking for unconventional sources of location-independent income, you can live a life that is effectively unconstrained by money.

– Getting laid is… well, it’s actually not easy. And it never will be, because single men will always desire more and better, and family men in the 21st century are faced with their own unique set of hurdles to overcome. But having successful relationships with women will be much easier, if you adopt an unconventional approach to dating and relationships.

– Conquering the demons of distraction, time-wasters, and unproductive habits will require some willpower. But this book will challenge you to adopt new habits and routines that will help you spend much more of your time focusing on the tasks you need to accomplish. If you currently spend several hours a day playing video games, watching TV, or mindlessly surfing the internet, this book will help free you from your self-imposed prison.

I’m not going to over-sell this book. It’s not a magic formula. You will still need to put in the hard work. I’m not Jesus Christ, Santa Claus, or the Easter Bunny. I’m just a guy who realized he wasn’t living the life he had dreamed of when he was a little kid, and decided to do something about it.

If you’re the type of person who is constantly looking for an edge, always looking for new information and inspiration to live a better life, I probably don’t need to convince you to read this book. I hope you enjoy it.

On the other hand, if you’re not currently living the sort of life you want, consider this book a kick in the ass. Freedom Twenty-Five: A 21st Century Man’s Guide To Life will give you all the tools you need to start becoming the Man you want to be.

I hope you have the courage to take the first step.
